Blog Reflection

Something that I accomplished this term was being a good leader.

The nicest thing someone has done for me is my friends have been supportive.

The most challenging part of the term was Maths but I have improved

My favourite place in the classroom or school is Mahutonga because that is my base space.

Something I did to help my classmates was worked together to help them out.

Something that was hard at the beginning of the year, but is easy now is sharing ideas and being confident

I have made my biggest improvements in Maori speaking

My favourite part of the school day is Writing because i can really express myself

Something I taught my teacher or classmates is I taught my friend Tak how to say Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

The best piece of writing I have done this year is because The trouble with mum because it’s funny and it has good words.

The best book I have read this year is Henry VII because it’s funny

Elderly Writing

Why the Elderly Should be cared for ByGeorge

The elderly should be cared for by a mixture of the Government, their communities and their families.

Imagine this: sitting in the corner of a massive home, cold, thirsty, and hungry. nobody there to give you a hand. This could be your grandparent, and it could be your future.

Firstly they, could be related to us. And they cared for us when we were young, so we should care for them when they’re old. Families should stay together, if we want them to enjoy their lives.

Secondly is their experience. If we don’t care for them all their wisdom will be wasted, and we wouldn’t know much about history and some of their old skills will be lost.

Furthermore, the Government should care for elderly. Some of the elderly could have fought in world wars or worked for the Government, and they all payed taxes and their not even recognised. The Elderly need to be cared for if the Government want them to enjoy their life.

Research shows, the proportion living with their spouse decreased with age, especially for women. Only 32% of women 75+ years old lived with a spouse. About 28% (11.8 million) of all noninstitutionalized older persons in 2012 lived alone (8.4 million women, 3.5 million men) would you like that.

These are the reasons you should care for the elderly!

Magic Door

The Magic Door By George

I juggled with a bat and ball through the magic door started to taste victory

I flew through the magic door and saw a glimpse of red

I dived through the magic door and a ball flew into my hand

I rolie polied through the magic door and smelt laughter

I flipped through the magic door and saw a bird fly backwards

I ran through the magic door and looked at happiness

I walked through the magic door and saw myself.

My homeless poem

Homeless By George

Homeless
Nothing
Not a penny
Money please
Naa mate
Every day
That’s all I hear
My beds a mat
Bestfriend
A rat
Money bucket
A hat
Empty
Like my life
Depressed
Weak
Ignored
Hungry
Thirsty
Desperate for a helping hand
Like living in a horror movie

My Refugee Poem

Refugee

You are lucky

I am not

You have such a great life

I do not

I have to run for survival

Country to Country

Swimming in the freezing water

You have a spa

Scared to Terrified

I am not welcome

You are

You have money

I do not

You have nothing to worry about

I worry about more than you can imagine

You are happy

I am not

Third Person- Guess who?

In our writing lessons, we have been learning how to write in the "third person." We wrote a description of ourselves without naming them and then we handed them to Nicola. She mixed them up and read them out. We had to guess who the person was. Then we decided to use puppet pals to publish them. By George

Matariki

Matariki

Once there lived a man called Ko te whakaaro nui. And he had seven sons that he were so proud of. One was called Kaha the oldest means power, One called Maramarama means intelligent, One called Te kino means evil, One called Atawhai means kind, One called Kāhua means style, one called Wahangu means dumb and the youngest Taitamariki means young.
Ko te tangata whakaaro nui gave his seven sons the best life. One day he said to his sons mo te ika haere go for a fish so Kaha said hopui te waka grab the canoe. So they sailed out to sea they threw down the anchor and Ko te tangata whakaaro nui was watching them suddenly a giant fish appeared and swallowed the boat whole and when Ko te tangata whakaaro nui saw it, he was so sad he went on his knees and said a karakia atua e manaaki ia ratou e hiahia ana ahau te tahi mea ki te mahara ratou god bless them I want something to remember them and up in the sky he heard the karakia and gave him seven stars to remember them and every year we celebrate Matariki.

Sick Sandwich

Sick Sandwich Don't try this at home

I go in for a bite, of the sandwich that might kill me. My teeth slice through the bread.Soft cheese, Lumpy apricot jam, Sour from the thousand island sauce, A slight sweetness and the creamy butter leaves a bad aftertaste. THAT WAS DISGUSTING! The worst combination. I was very surprised that I wasn't sick afterwards. “Why did you make me do that”? “Because it’s funny” says Cam “At Least I didn’t vomit”

Tree Combo

Tree Combo

The Tree Combo is a tree made out some native trees in New Zealand. The braches are fake and the plants are a mixture of fake and real plants. It includes Pohutukawa, Kawa Kawa, Kanuka and Taupota all mixed into one tree. My inspiration was all our plants that are native in NZ are so unique and I thought it would be quite cool to mix them into one tree. The materials I used were a Tree Trunk, Red Felt, Green Felt, Kanuka and Taupota. I was thinking about plants in nz  and then it popped The Tree combo.

Cross Country

Today we went to the beach with some council rangers to plant on the dunes. We have to plant on the sand so that it stops the sand and soil from eroding. Planting also helps to attract wildlife, like lizards to the area. It is important to plant new plants every so often.

The trouble with mum

The Trouble with Mum

If there was an olympic sport for talking, Mum would get gold.
My mum is very loquacious.
Every time she walks into a store she will bump into about 50 people that she knows she will talk and talk for hours then she will arrange a time to have a catch up  and talk more.

Mum went for a shop in the supermarket she said “i’ll be two seconds”, “more like two hours”,  I think to myself.
It’s about time you got back you better have a treat to make up for this.

Shut up

SHUT UP!

Mum says “Family photo”. Creek “Are you ok’’, “SHUT UP”! I yell at the top of my voice “What happened”, “I sat on a nail”.
“Shut up” I here from a distance “That boy just copied you” Mum says angrily “Wait till dad hears about this”.
